Lester Glenn Subaru is proudly collecting gently used cell phones in support ofCell Phones for Soldiers.

Did you know that American servicemen and women deployed overseas do not have an affordable way to call loved ones back home? Or that many veterans need assistance, but often don't know where to seek help?

Cell Phones for Soldiers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing cost-free communication services to active-duty military members and veterans, collects gently used cell phones and uses the proceeds from the recycling of the donated phones to purchase calling cards for our troops.

Lester Glenn Subaru is now serving as a drop-off location for Cell phones for Soldiers. To donate your cell phone, visit Lester Glenn Subaru at 1501 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755 and drop it off in the box marked Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Frequently Asked Questions for Cell Phones for Soldiers
  • What type of cell phones can be donated?
Cell Phones for Soldiers will accept any and all types of cell phones from any carrier. Newer gently-used cellular devices are preferred, however; proceeds can still be generated from the recycling of broken and dated devices. Charges and accessories are welcomed but not necessary to donate. Please refrain from donating instruction manuals with your cell phone
  • What does Cell Phones for Soldiers do with the donated cell phones?
The donated cell phones are either sold to an electronic refurbisher or a recycler. When a device is received, Cell Phones for Soldiers wipes all personal information on the phone and checks to see if it is repairable. A cell phone that is repairable is sold to an electronic refurbisher who will repair the device and sell it in the aftermarket. Cell phones that are too old or beyond repair are sold to recyclers who strip the devices of components and metals and responsibly recycle the remaining parts. The proceeds from the phones are then used to purchase prepaid international calling cards for troops and provide emergency financial assistance to veterans.
  • Is there a way I can erase my personal data before the phone is donated?
If your cell phone has a SIM card, please remove it prior to donating. You can also perform a factory reset on your phone to clear any personal data. Information on how to perform a factory reset can be found in your instruction manual or by searching online by the make and model of your phone for further instructions.
